What types of services are available on Studio?

Studio does the legwork for you, curating and integrating with best-in-class fieldwork platforms and recruiting partners. Power your insight communities, mobile ethnographies, live video discussions, and more. And because we know how manual and time consuming conducting qual can be, leverage our digital workflow and collaboration tools, project managers, and dashboards for easy project management.

Is there a fee for using Studio?

Sign up for a seat (or more!) to access our network and then pay as you go, paying only for what you commission on Studio. Please contact hello@studioqual.com so we can get you signed up based on your needs.

How do I apply for a job/project?

RFP and Proposal submissions are closed, meaning only moderators that Research Buyers select and invite to their RFP can submit proposals and apply to be hired for the project.

What type of qualitative research does Studio not support?

At this time we do not support any in-person, healthcare, or global qual research, but we plan to in the future. If you have a need for those services today, a qualitative specialist at buzzback can help! Reach out to sales@buzzback.com

Can I request services that are not listed on Studio?

Should you need services not listed on the website, please contact us at hello@studioqual.com with a detailed message and we’ll get back to you with next steps.

Do you offer any assistance in selecting the right Moderator for my project?

We expect that Research Buyers will make their own decisions on who to bring in to their projects when using Studio, but we’re happy to provide additional services or matching assistance at a cost. Please inquire at hello@studioqual.com for more details.

Can Research Buyers invite specific Moderators to apply for their projects?

Yes! You must select moderators to send your projects to as part of Studio. Should you want a moderator not currently using Studio to be invited to work on your project, please let us know by emailing hello@studioqual.com and we’ll work to add them to our network on the platform.

Can I search for Moderators based on specific skills or expertise?

Absolutely! See our ‘how to’ for how you can use our directory to find the best moderator for your project.

Can I hire a Moderator directly for future projects?

If you would like to rehire a moderator you can easily send a request directly to them in Studio and skip bidding out to multiple moderators. If you have a research need that Studio does not support, contact hello@studioqual.com and we can help coordinate.  

What happens after I submit a proposal?

Research Buyers review proposals and award the project shortly after receiving submissions. We limit Research Buyers to three requested moderators to ensure your time responding is well spent, and we make it easy to highlight your expertise and put your best foot forward.

How do I leave a review for a Moderator/Research Buyer?

These will happen automatically at the end of a project and help future customers confidently make selections for their upcoming projects.

Is there a messaging system for communication between Research Buyers and Moderators?

We do not have a direct messaging system at this time, but it’s on our roadmap for 2024.

Can I communicate with a Moderator/Research Buyer outside the platform?

Absolutely! We’re not here to get in your way, and your preferred method of communication is fine with us. However, we try to make it simpler by providing clear locations within Studio for information like project plans and reports, ensuring that the most timely and sensitive information is easily accessed and secure.

Is there a limit to the number of projects I can post or apply for?

Nope! You can post, or work on, as many projects as you’d like.

Can I extend a project's deadline if needed?

This should be communicated between the relevant parties and updated in Studio on your project timeline.

Can Research Buyers and Moderators negotiate project terms and pricing?

Yes, this happens in the RFP/Proposal process. Once awarded, the agreement is binding unless there is a mutually agreed upon change order.

Can I set up recurring projects with the same Moderator?

Each project must be created individually and issued to the moderator you want to work on the project. We make this easy by allowing you to ‘Favorite’ moderators, ensuring you can quickly send them projects and get moving.

What if I need to change project requirements after hiring a Moderator?

Should a change order be required, this should be communicated between the relevant parties and the updated agreement will be added to Studio on your project timeline.

Is there a limit on the number of proposals Moderators can submit?

You may send one proposal per project. You may respond to any number of projects provided that you were requested to respond to the RFP.

How are payments handled on Studio? What is the payment process/terms?

When a project is closed, an email containing a PDF of your receipt or invoice will be sent to the Research Buyer project owner for payment to Studio. For Research Buyers, all fees for the amount of the project will be invoiced according to your specific Studio commitment. Invoices are due within 30 days of completion. All other optional services identified for the project will be included on this invoice.All invoices are subject to payment within thirty [30] days from the date of invoice. Late payments will incur interest at 1.5% per month or the highest amount permitted under applicable law. The Research Buyer is subject to all payment fees, including but not limited to bank fees, and other applicable taxes and fees.

How are Moderators paid?

Studio handles paying the Moderators based on the approved project scope. Moderator payments will be made within 45 days of completion of project according to the outlined project specs. Moderators invoices will be automatically generated when a project closes for payment by Studio via BILL |  Financial operations platform for businesses .

How are refunds handled?

All projects initiated and canceled are subject to a minimum 30% cancellation fee.  If the project has not launched, you will only be charged the 30% cancellation fee via invoice.  If the project has started, including development of discussion guide, recruiting of participants, and other steps, you will be charged for all associated costs incurred for work completed to date, plus a 3% processing fee. You will receive an invoice for these costs.

What if I need to cancel a project?

If a Research Buyer or Moderator cancels a project, they are subject to the cancellation terms as outlined.

How are Moderators vetted on the platform?

Each moderator goes through an interview process prior to onboarding onto the platform to ensure credibility. All moderators must also sign NDAs and Terms of Use policies to ensure proper engagement on Studio.

Is there a review and rating system?

Yes! If you are a moderator just signing up to Studio, we allow you to request reviews from previous clients that you’ve worked with that will get displayed on your profile. Once you complete a project, Research Buyer’s can leave reviews and ratings for the moderator on the project. We also allow moderators to review and rate Research Buyers to ensure everyone on Studio is accountable for their performance and professionalism.

What if there is a problem between a Research Buyer and a Moderator?

We encourage buyers and moderators to resolve the issue themselves first. If you have an issue with a counterparty, please contact us at sendhelp@studioqual.com with a detailed message and we’ll get back to you with next steps for resolution.

How do I delete my account?

Should you need to remove your account for any reason, please contact us at support@studioqual.com and we’ll ensure you’re removed from Studio.

Do Moderators have a rating threshold to maintain their profiles on Studio?

We do not have a fixed value to maintain status at this time, but we review moderator performance regularly and will take steps to remove anyone who does not consistently maintain our high standards.

Are there any penalties for Moderators who fail to deliver as promised?

We will take steps to remove anyone who does not consistently maintain our high standards.

How are conflicts of interest handled if a Moderator works for a competitor?

As part of our Terms of Use, moderators must disclose and/or decline if a conflict of interest arises.

How does Studio ensure data privacy and security?

We take data privacy compliance and security very seriously. Studio is currently Truste endorsed, and we’re also focused on constantly keeping up with the latest updates to laws and regulations. We’re committed to making sure the Studio experience will support compliance as data privacy laws and regulations continue to evolve. How are taxes handled for payments made through Studio?

We do not withhold any fees for taxes. Please consult a tax professional for any questions regarding your obligations for any money earned through Studio.

What is Studio?

Studio modernizes the fragmented and outdated qualitative research process by bringing research buyers, moderators, best-in-class tools and research participants together in one platform.

How does Studio work?

We’ve recruited and vetted moderators with expertise across a range of industries, categories and specialties to join our network and be available for hire for your digital qualitative research projects. Research buyers can easily find a moderator perfect for your project, submit RFPs, hire and get started with the click of a button. Once executed, both parties are taken to our project portal, which makes the process of conducting research centralized, seamless, and easy from start to finish.

Who can join as a Research Buyer?

End clients, brands and agencies of all sizes! Please inquire at hello@studioqual.com and we’ll respond as quickly as possible with next steps on joining Studio as a Research Buyer. Studio is not for other market research agencies.

Who can join as a Moderator?

Qualitative research professionals, including live focus group or IDI moderators, asynchronous community moderators, ethnographers, UX researchers, and facilitators who are not currently full time employees of an organization. We’ll request some basic information and set up a quick meet and greet, after which we’ll grant access to the platform and walk you through onboarding.

Can I join as both a Moderator and a Research Buyer?

If you need access to both functions, please contact us at hello@studioqual.com  with your specific request and we’ll let you know how we can best accommodate you.
